The passion burns deep.

I've gotten used to really shitty TV remakes of either '90s shows ("Beverly Hills, 90210") and '80s movies ("The Karate Kid") that I really love - CW's "90210" was spectacularly shitty, and the upcoming Will Smith version of "Karate Kid" fills me with dread:

But the fact that ABC just won a mondo bidding war among networks to adapt the coke-and-sex-fest that is "St. Elmo's Fire" into a series hurts me.

No one can be as pretty as Rob Lowe, as pitiful as Andrew McCarthy or as absurd as Demi Moore were in that movie. It just can't happen. Why try?!
