I actually WOULD like to be the girl with the most cake, thanks.

I'm not a huge Nirvana fan anymore; they fit well with my teenage angst a while ago but not so much lately. And, similarly, I played "Guitar Hero" once and was miserable at it, so never again.

But this latest drama between Courtney Love and the remaining members of Nirvana - Dave Grohl and Krist Novalesic - is so fucking stupid and indicative of Love's awfulness. Since Kurt Cobain put a gun in his mouth back in 1994, she's pretty much been doing everything she can to bank on his estate - selling his lyrics to Converse, printing his journal pages - and it's all bullshit. I don't consider Cobain a rock god or anything, but I do think that if you genuinely loved someone, you wouldn't keep selling their shit out like that. You'd take the money you're making from all his royalties, keep his memory close to your heart and shut the fuck up.

Love doesn't really work that way, though, and her decision to sell his image and songs to Activision for use as a player in Guitar Hero 5 is retarded.

And even more retarded is her latest flip-out over it, claiming that she never would have handed over the rights if she knew Activision would allow Cobain's character to be unlocked by players so they could have him sing stuff by the likes of Bon Jovi. Uh, but when Love signed on Activision's dotted line, that kind of gives them free reign to do whatever they want, as the company's statement clearly points out:

Guitar Hero secured the necessary licensing rights from the Cobain estate in a written agreement signed by Courtney Love to use Kurt Cobain's likeness as a fully playable character in Guitar Hero 5.

So basically, Love's a fucking idiot who loves playing the victim. HATE.

If only all of the decisions about Nirvana could be made by Novoselic and Grohl instead - here's the statement they released about all this drama, and at least they don't sound like fucking cracked-out, heroin-junkie idiots:

We want people to know that we are dismayed and very disappointed in the way a facsimile of Kurt is used in the Guitar Hero game. The name and likeness of Kurt Cobain are the sole property of his estate - we have no control whatsoever in that area.

While we were aware of Kurt's image being used with two Nirvana songs, we didn't know players have the ability to unlock the character. This feature allows the character to be used with any kind of song the player wants. We urge Activision to do the right hting in "re-locking" Kurt's character so that this won't continue in the future.

It's hard to watch an image of Kurt pantomiming other artists' music alongside cartoon characters. Kurt Cobain wrote songs that hole a lot of meaning to people all over the world. We feel he deserves better.

At least they can speak in full, coherent sentences, unlike Love either in person or on her Twitter. Again, HATE.
